1) Like the UnderstandRussia Facebook page if you haven’t done that already (and you will get updates about the new posts on your timeline)

2) Submit at least one question about everyday life in Russia to be answered in this blog!

  • Ask something you are genuinely curious about, except for politics
  • There are no right or wrong questions – ask anything, do not worry about stereotypes
  • I especially enjoy writing answers to more focused (less broad) questions

  • Do all Russians play chess?
  • Is it always very cold in Russia?
  • Do people in Moscow speak foreign languages?

How to submit questions: please use whichever method you prefer most – write questions in comments to this post or on UnderstandRussia Facebook page or send them via email from the Contact page (Make sure you provide some kind of contact info – I will never send you any unsolicited emails, but I will need to contact winners to ask for the addresses – where to ship your prizes!)

3) Winning questions will be chosen via voting at the UnderstandRussia Facebook Page (Quantity of prizes is limited to what you see on the photo above). I anticipate that there will be a lot of great questions and promise to answer all of them in this blog!

  • Please submit your questions until Monday March 3rd 2014 (midnight, Moscow time)
  • Voting will take place March 4th – March 7th 2014
  • Winners will be announced on 10th of March 2014 (Prizes will be shipped to your countries on 10th of March as well!)

I look forward to receiving your questions! THANK YOU!!!

What is the symbolism behind the Matroshka dolls? Do kids play with them?
